Our family hotel „Waldmühle“ is rich in tradition. It was built in 1892. The hostel used to be a holiday home of the 'VEB Wälzlagerwerk' Zella-Mehlis, a state-owned ball bearing company, when Peter Langenhahn took it over in 1984.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Langenhahn Family initially received a lease agreement from the successor of the German Ball Bearing Factory, so Mr. Langenhahn took the effort to purchase the property. It has now been owned by Family Langenhahn since 1991.
In 1992, the hotel „Waldmühle“ was opened as a three - star hotel. 38 hotel rooms, each including a shower and WC, were built. A restaurant as well as a beergarden with 80 seats were created.
To ensure, that the family property will be managed by the Langenhahn Family in the future, Susen Langenhahn, Peter Langenhahn's daughter, came back to the company. She graduated her training as a hotel manageress succesfully in the Hotel "Steigenberger" in Bad Kissingen and gained more experience in the hotel managment business.
Furthermore, Susen Langenhahn went to a school for hotel management, and graduated with a degree in hotel management. In 2004 father and daughter decided to expand and modify the hotel. Spacious rooms, each one furnished with a bath tub and shower, were created.
As the rooms were modernized, an elevator, as well as a handicapped accessible room, and a wheel chair accessible entrance were built.
Furthermore, a function room for conferences and festivities as well as a comfort zone, including a sauna, outdoor whirlpool, a relaxing chaise area, a plunge pool and Kneipp bath and a massage area with a variety of relaxing offerings were added.
A small petting zoo and a playground were built for our young guests .
In 2009, the rest of the rooms, were renovated, and the house got a brand new look.
Daughter Susen and father Peter Langenhahn along with their staff, offer their guests a memorable stay in a natural surrounding at the hotel "Waldmuehle".
